Homicide offences include murder, manslaughter, death by dangerous driving, corporate manslaughter, infanticide and associated offences including assisting suicide.

We have represented many defendants charged with murder, an offence which carries a mandatory sentence of life. Following a recent review of sentences in this area, such life sentences are now considerably longer than was historically the case. Minimum terms of 35 years or more are commonplace for gang-related killings.

We have extensive links with senior barristers and Queen's Counsel within the region and in London who have assisted our client's over the years. One of the more recent cases we dealt with is referred to in the testimonials page (see R-v-M). The young man concerned in that case would have received 30 years in prison but for our representations that proved his innocence.

We are members of the Legal Services Commissions's VHCC Panel (Very High Cost Case) which allows us to represent defendants facing the most complicated and high-profile criminal prosecutions.

Corporate Manslaughter

We have expertise in corporate manslaughter with a key member of our team lecturing in the region to lawyers and businesses about this recent development in the law. If you would like to attend a future presentation about corporate menslaughter contact us now.

Causing Death by Dangerous Driving

This area of the law has been recently reviewed so as to increase the number of prosecution and lengthen the sentences upon conviction. Our combined expertise in road traffic and criminal law means that we are ideally placed to represent the motorist facing this allegation.
